INTRODUCTION:
MFM Women Foundation was officially inaugurated in September 2006, by the General Overseer of MFM worldwide, Dr. D.K. Olukoya, who is the International President of the MFM Women Foundation, and his wife as the coordinator, to cater to the affairs of women in MFM Ministries Worldwide. It has its headquarters in Lagos Nigeria. The authorities of MFM strongly believe that women have a unique role to play in the body of Christ because God has specially endowed them for specific assignments, particularly in this end-time.
The MFM Women Foundation is the female arm of MFM Ministries worldwide. Anything about women is fully supervised by the MFM Women Foundation. It is therefore the parent body set up to supervise, instruct, direct, and regulate all activities relating to women in MFM worldwide.
In the Great Lakes Region, the Women Ministry of MFM has its Regional offices at MFM Church Kanyanya, Kampala Uganda, being headed by the Women Head and guided by The Regional Overseer, Great Lakes Region, Pastor Benita Blessing Gonyere.
THE GLORIOUS WOMEN ON FIRE (GWOF)
The Women’s Ministry at MFM Great Lakes is called The Glorious Women on Fire (GWOF), and is one of the very vital groups of the church. GWOF has purposed to key into the key aims and objectives of MFM Women Foundation as its mandate. It is therefore mandated to the following:
1. To involve women of integrity in things of the Lord in MFM.
2. To train and produce Holy Spirit-filled women for positions of leadership in MFM worldwide.
3. To teach women on how to handle marital problems that may be confronting the women’s wing of the ministries.
4. To make them more useful in the body of Christ, their families, and humanity in general.
5. To allow women to operate within the spiritual framework of their callings.
6. To have a voice for sisters in the affairs of the ministry.
7. To prepare battle–ready Christian sisters mandated to pull down strongholds.
8. To create a meeting place where general feminine matters can be discussed and addressed.
9. To create an avenue whereby younger sisters can learn from older ones, having older women mentoring younger ones.
10. To develop women into leadership positions in the society.
11. To train women to become prayer eagles.
12. To address all matters relating to Christian homes concerning women.
14. To assist the less-privileged women in making a living and having a fulfilled life.
15. To arrange for the development of skills that can be commercialized to arrest poverty in the lives of the needy and to give necessary assistance to widows who are in need.
GWOF Membership:
Glorious Women On Fire consists of all the women in MFM Great Lakes branch churches willing to voluntarily participate in the activities of the branch churches under the umbrella of MFM Women’s Ministry.
In today’s society, there is a need to engage women right from the get-go to get them involved in the Women’s Ministry in churches or else there is a whole world of alternatives and options out there for them to be involved with, which in most cases are not healthy and not beneficial to them. Women need what the local church Women Ministry can offer. Women need a place where to serve and use their spiritual gifts as well as their God-given talents.
It is therefore the responsibility of the GWOF to plan special events to promote small activity groups through which women engage in these group opportunities that will encourage them to join and participate in the church activities. Some of the groups include:- Prayer, Educational / Training, Pregnant Women & Expectant mothers, Crusades, Bible Study, Missions and community outreach, Choir, etc.
GWOF also works hand-in-hand with the Pastoral team to harmonize the women’s activities for the name of the Lord to be glorified.
PRAYER INTERCESSION
Right from the start, one of the key ingredients for the establishment and fulfillment of any church group is Prayer. Prayer is essential before, during, and after any planning process. Glorious Women on Fire, therefore, is anchored onto this very important aspect and is making a progressive effort to reinvent itself. The GWOF intercedes for the women’s ministry and other ministries, and the church as a whole.
